Kapil Mohan, IAS, is currently working as Principal Secretary to the Housing Board, Government of Karnataka (Ref: https://www.karnatakahousing.com/board.aspx). He is also having additional post as the Chairman of Karnataka Appellate Tribunal ( Ref: https://kat.karnataka.gov.in/members-list)
Earlier he was the Deputy Director General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Government of India, New Delhi. While working in the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Kapil Mohan was responsible for implementation of NMEEE (National Mission on Enhanced Energy Efficiency) component of National Action Plan for Climate Change in addition to other responsibilities.
Prior to joining the bureau, he was the Director (Distribution) in Ministry of Power and was responsible for the implementation of flagship schemes such as Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana and Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reform Program and other distribution policies. Mr. Mohan also launched the smart grid programme in that assignment.
Kapil Mohan has worked as the Private Secretary to the Union Minister of State for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways. He also worked in various capacities in the Government of Karnataka. Kapil Mohan, a Fellow of Leadership in Environment and Development (LEAD), joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1990.
He is the recipient of the Saint Andrews Prize for Environment in 2001 and the international MIT Award for Innovation in 2007. He was also the sole representative from India for the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship in 2009.
Previously, he attended the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University, USA, as a McNamara Fellow in the areas of public policy and science, technology, and environmental policy. Mohan is a management graduate with a background in science.
