India Core and Council of Power Utilities organised the third edition of 'Thermal Power India'- a conference & exhibition focussing on issues in the power generation industry covering Coal, Gas, Oil & Nuclear Power Generation. The Thermal Power India series offers a unique platform to learn, discuss and exchange experience about the major structural, technical, managerial & regulatory changes and business opportunities in the power generation segment amongst various stakeholders.

To meet the capacity addition target of 78000 MW during 2007-12, massive resources would be required. According to the estimates of Government of India, investments of more than 100 billion dollars would be required in power generation in the next ten years. As such, significant project opportunities are expected in the power generation sector and the interest in the sector is at an all-time high.

Thermal Power India 3 offered organisations with business interests in the region to play a major role in one of the world's fastest developing power markets and a premium platform to meet decision-makers, policy planners, business associates & prospective clients.

Event IT in Power Sector- 'Performance Upgradation including Automation'

Description 

The power sector is opening up and use of information technology and automation systems can play a major role in bringing about standardization, transparency, revenue realization and reduction in transmission and distribution losses in the sector. Technology innovation can only benefit the sector and IT has a major role to play in empowering the power supply utilities.

There is a huge need for specialized, customized and upgraded software systems for the power sector. The restructured Rs 500 billion APDRP initiative gives high priority for implementation of IT enabled solutions to reduce AT&C losses. The recently updated report of IT Task Force in October 2008 also observes that technology will enable the transformation of power sector in India. (Download report from

The size and the scope of the software order are significant. India’s state-owned power utilities are expected to place significant orders of software that can help them in project monitoring and in managing their networks better.
