World Council of Power Utilities |
In the field of power as on today, there is comptetion as well
as interdependence. The world is divided into two distinct areas-
developed and the developing - sofar as the electric power development
is concerned.
The
developed countries have the technology, financial resources and
expertise for power capacity additions, their operation and maintaienance
in an effecient and environmental friendly manner. The developing
countries on the other hand, provide an exceptionally growing
market for power development, specially in the wake of their liberalization
endeavour. The trend is therefore most suitable for a very close
interaction between the developed and the developing countries
for mutual formulation of solutions through exchange of ideas
and information.
With this objective in view, the World Council of Power Utilities
(WCPU) established in 1995 offers an excellent opportunity to
the power utilities of the world for such interaction. The council
has been mainly formed to evolve solutions for the problems connected
with power sector. The important attribute of this Council is
that it is an association of power development business, namely
desingner, consultants, manufacturers, investors, policymakers
and environmentalists.
