Vedanta has started a communication campaign under the overall theme of ‘Creating Happiness’. Other than the adcampaign on national television, they have also put together a Creating Happiness Film Competition where they
opened up all their community programmes to film, communications and media students across the country. The brief given to them was simple – visit their locations, see their community work, spend time with them, find a story and make a film.
114 student film makers from some of the best institutes in country participated in this project. They included FTII, Whistling Woods, Symbiosis, School of Convergence, MGR FTI, IIMC, Assam University, Xavier’s, MOP Vaishnav, Christ University, ZIMA, IP College and Ravenshaw University.
The students travelled to the interiors of Rajasthan, Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Orissa and Chhattisgarh and came back with 38 short films that tell the stories of the people and communities whose lives have been changed by Vedanta’s community initiatives.Their first person accounts can be read here http://www.creatinghappiness.in/blog/.
The films are open for public voting on YouTube till 20 March 2012 – 1 view is 1 vote and 1 like is three votes. The films will also be judged by the jury that includes Piyush Pandey, Shyam Benegal and Gul Panag.
