Book Details

The publication is ‘The Encyclopaedia of Wind Power in India’ with new features and up-to-date information. It is acclaimed as complete source book of Wind Power Sector in India.

The current edition, in addition to the usual features, carries comprehensive data on wind potential sites in the various states of India, the Govt's promotional policies, incentives offered by the states/central Govt., supportive role of Center for Wind Energy Technology (C-WET), the technical particulars of the Wind Electric Generator and the current scenario on wind power development.

As a regular coverage, it also includes the capacity additions over the years, the present installed capacity state wise vis-୶is the technical potential yet available the estimated power generation, the Cost Economics, Guidelines on Clean Development Mechanism, the relevance of the Electricity Act-2003 for Wind Power Projects and the trend on year to year variation in wind-speed & the consequential generation in the operational windfarms.

It provides encyclopedic information on the windfarms in India and the details of the various stake-holders, viz. manufacturers, developers, financial institutions, state nodal agencies, societies & associations, component suppliers and service providers like erection contractors/ O&M agencies/repairers/crane hiring agencies and others, compiled with more than 2500 entries. Procedural steps for establishment of windfarm, Indian Wind Turbine Certification System, Insurance, guidelines for diversion of forest land for wind power projects etc. are some of the related subjects which also have been touched upon in the Directory. The broad perspective adopted for the directory is evident from inclusion of front line topics like hybrid system using diesel and solar energy with wind power and water pumping wind mills.  It also focuses on the current technological trends and world-wide development of wind power sector.  An attempt has also been made to include a list of publications on related subject as well the connected websites.

In nutshell, the Directory Indian Windpower 2008 would serve as an indispensable reference book for all individuals and agencies directly or indirectly connected with development of this new and promising energy sector.
